Back in 2021 when my introverted self was trying to explore ways of building connections and was lost on Twitter I came across a post by Yogini Bende in which she launched a waiting list form for a product named Peerlist which sounded interesting to me and I filled it then and there. After a few weeks, I got this mail

About Peerlist

Peerlist is a community-led professional network for people in tech with powerful work profiles at its core. A Peerlist profile can be used as a simple resume or a complete portfolio to showcase your work from Github, Dribbble, Product Hunt, and many more.

After creating an account I filled up the basic details and then went on to add my GitHub & Hashnode data to Peerlist and it beautifully created the interactive view of both the profiles.

For students like me, the features that Peerlist provides are:

I have been using Peerlist for a long time now and the experience has been smooth and satisfying. The feature that I loved the most about Peerlist was the integration of different profiles into one single page.

When Hashnode integration was implemented in October 2021, I recall that I ran into a problem. I immediately tweeted Yogini about it on Twitter, and she quickly responded and fixed the issue.

Speaking with her was a pleasure, and observing her commitment to the product made me pleased.

Since Peerlist went live last year, it has advanced significantly & the community loves it.

Professional Networking

Building relationships with other professionals in your line of work and the adjacent fields are known as professional networking. By networking, you can develop connections with people who will help both your career and those in your network. Typically, professional networking aims to be able to approach people in your network for favours and provide assistance to them in return.

For instance, if you're looking for a new job, you might ask a member of your professional network to recommend you to their employer.

The whole idea of Peerlist is aligned with the Professional Networking of individuals as Peerlist not only provides individuals with a platform but also recruiters who can hire from Peerlist itself.

As the idea of Peerlist aligns with the Professional Networking of individuals it helps in:

DO's

• Consider who you should network with and know when a relationship may not be mutually beneficial.
• Consider both short- and long-term career plans when meeting people.
• Use Peerlist to build a single reserve for all your professional work and activities
• Listen as well as talk, and ask questions.
• Always thank someone who's offered you support and keep them updated on your progress.

DON'ts

• Only build contacts for short-term help.
• Take from your network without giving in return.
• Spamming your network with irrelevant content.
• Neglect your network.
• Break contact once someone has given help.

Ninja: What is the future of Peerlist?

I absolutely love the product in terms of its usage and its simplistic UI/UX. The thing that I would like to pitch here is to:

• A resume (pdf) link instead of importing from LinkedIn.
• A credit system which gives credit to individuals for completing tasks like linking various social profiles like GitHub and Dribbble and then they can redeem it for swags.
• Referral System: this is the best way to increase the user base and get more users on Peerlist.
• Encouraging individuals to use Peerlist in their Twitter Bio and in their job hunt.
• Proper promotions in colleges can increase the user base.
• More customization flexibility.
• Spotify Integration! Yay!

A use case that Peerlist can cover is PeerChat where breakout rooms can be created and a particular topic can be discussed in groups or a group study can be done.

Closing Remarks

I absolutely loved the product and looking forward to the future of the same. Yogini and Akash have been burning the midnight oil so that this product stands apart from others in the same category and more or less they are successful in doing so.

It is unique, fresh and sleek!
